Interesting Facts

  • Son of Linus J. and Aldia Coyne, of Sudbury, ON. Brother of Robert, Ronald, Daniel, Evelyn, Teresa & Marylin. Predeceased by siblings Mary & Patrick. Nicknamed "Rusty." According to his family, Rifleman Coyne's unit was approaching a farmhouse, and Linus was shot in the abdomen by a German soldier as he walked around the front of a tank he had been behind. Commemorated on Page 281 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance.
