Interesting Facts

  • "I am writing about my uncle, Robert Phillips Vatcher who was born in Bellerose, NY, flew for the RCAF and died June 29, 1944. He is listed on your records as Flying Officer Robert Vatcher but the Charter of his appointment (dated 28 August, 1942, signed 16 February, 1943 by the Air Secretary states he was a pilot officer. My mother kept the memory of our Uncle Bob alive. He was an artist and this is a short piece I did in his honor:" (Courtesy of: John Haigis)
