  • Warrant Officer George S. Streisel was born in 1918 to parents Simon G. Streisel (born in Poland) and Elizabeth Rees (born in Romania). He was born in Spring Valley, SK but was living in Oshawa, ON when he enlisted in October 1941. He was reported missing in May 1944 when his aircraft left Gander NL on route for the Azores in the UK. They lost communications after three hours and the aircraft failed to arrive at its destination. Warrant Officer Streisel was presumed dead on May 24, and his father was given a gratuity of $271.17, as well as the Operational Wings and Certificate in recognition of his services.
