• Born in St. Catharines, Ont. Attended public school at Merritton and Collegiate institute at St. Catharines. His hobby was the study of Radio. He worked at a large sulphite mill. Enl. March 1942. Trained Brantford and Camp Borden. On 30 June 1942 he married Helen Marion Stevens of Thorold, Ont. Overseas Jul 1942. One daughter, Helen. Surv wife and child, parents, Mr. Mrs. Robert George Downes , Thorold. Mrs. Lillian M. McCrae, father- and mother-in-law, Mr. Mrs. John Stevens of Thorold.
