Interesting Facts

  • May 31, 1918 – January 19, 1942

    Great Uncle Lyle enlisted with R.C.A.F. in July, 1940, graduated from Bombing & Gunnery School in Fingal, Ontario in March, 1941 and went overseas in July, 1941 and received his commission in England.

    He was engaged as a navigator aboard a Sunderland Flying Boat and was doing patrol work when the craft was destroyed due to enemy action near Yell Island, Shetland, Scotland.

    Prior to enlisting he was the principal of Williamsburg Public School (1938 – 1940).
