Born at Stevenston, Ayrshire, Scotland, the town where he is buried. Educated at Bethany College, Bethany, WVA, USA and U of Chicago where he was studying to become a brain surgeon. He had been his class president at Gaskill Junior Junior High School and three years later Class President of the graduating class of Niagara Falls High School, where he had been captain of the debating team for three years and President of the Forensic Society. Lived in Niagara Falls, NY. Enl. Windsor, Ont., June 1940. He was very religious and on 12 June 1941, four months before his death he wrote a long letter to his mother in which he set forth his views on ethics and the Christian life, part of which was published in Niagara Falls and became the basis of a sermon preached in the cathedral at Boston, Mass, USA. Surv. by parents and a sister, Mrs. Isabel Vosper.
