Son of James V. and Calista Smith Bogart. Native of Van Etten, New York. Moved to Birch Lake, SK in his early childhood with his parents. Prior to enlisting with the 28th Battalion at North Battleford in june 1916, he was a farmer. During operations in the vicinity of Passchendaele on November 6, 1917, Pte. Bogart was struck by shrapnel from an enemy shell while in the "jumping off" trench. He was severely wounded and evacuated to a field hospital where he succumbed to his wounds three weeks later.
