  • Son of Bruno Vangheluwe and his wife Marie Mathilde Roeleus, of Batatia, Roulers, Belgium. Brother of Edeht (Edith) Vemel. Enlisted voluntarily. Sailed from Halifax on the S.S. Empress of Britain, October 31, 1916. Member of 16th Coy. Legally changed his name during WW1 to William Vangheluwe, as reflected by his two epitaphs.
