Hurdman's D Battery survived the war with few casualties, only three of them fatalities,all from Enteric Fever, Sgt Evatt included.
D Field Battery: D Bty (apart from the left section (Leliefontein, etc.), spent more than 80% of its time on garrison duty and only 11 days on active duty. The Canadian batteries together lost only two men to enemy action.
