Interesting Facts

  • Son of Ernest and Winnifred Emily Pickford of Broadview, SK. Killed in action on the beaches of Dieppe on his 20th birthday. A lake in the Clearwater area, 320 miles northwest of Prince Albert, was later renamed Pickford Lake in honour of his sacrifice. Pte Pickford is commemorated on Page 106 of the Second World War Book of Remembrance.
