Born at New Westminster, BC. Attended Lord Lister and the Duke of Connaught schools in New Westminster. Worked for Pacific Coast Terminals. Married May Bell in 1924. Enl. Vancouver. Trained at Brandon, St. Thomas and Calgary and later posted to Patricia Bay, BC. After the Japanese attack on the USA at Pearl Harbor in December 1941, incursions in to the Aleutian Islands and submarine sitings off the west coast of Canada, Canada agreed to assist the United States with the defence of Alaska. In June 1942 as part of Western Air Command, RCAF X-Wing, including No. 8 Bomber/Reconnaissance Squadron, flying Bristol Bolyngbroke V aircraft, was based at Elmendorf Army Airfield at Anchorage, Alaska. Donald must have been a member of 8 Sqn. He was survived by parents Mr. Mrs. John Donald, wife May and children Lloyd, Jean, Marion, Bill and Phyllis, and several brothers and sisters, all of New Westminster, BC.
