  • Born in St.-Marc-des-Carrieres, Que. Local schools, music, violin, guitar. Enl Merchant Navy 1937 Served on St. Lawrence River and Great Lakes to Europe, South African and Eastern waters. He was an apprentice pilot before he joined Cdn Merchant Navy. Surv parents Mr. Mrs Francis Arcand, three bros and seven sisters, all of St.-Marc-des-Carrieres. SS Proteus disappeared in Atlantic between Lesser Antilles and Portland Me.
