    Born (1906?) in Montreal son of Sgt. E. Carley, a Boer War and First World War veteran., Kelvin High School, Winnipeg, MB. Then special radio course, Talented musician with several certificates. Lived at 315 Beverley St. Winnipeg. Orig enl Canadian Active Service Army. then RCAF 1940. On 7 Jan 1942 Carley, under training as a Wireless Op/AirGunner, was aboard Anson R3409 of 1 AOS (Air Observer School) at Wigtown, Scotland. on a navigational exercise when the plane iced-up and crashed near Cautley, Sedbergh, West Yorkshire. He bailed out and escaped uninjured. Six days later, flying on a training mission aboard Anson AW850 of the same unit, he was kiiled when the plane crashed at Carsegowan, Wigtown. He was 36 at time of death. Surv. mother, Mrs. Florence Carley, Winnipeg, MB.Buried in Grave 569, Kirkinner Cemetery. Kirkinner is a village on Wigtown Bay, on road to Knockann, two miles south of Wigtown.
