  • Born at Pleasant Valley, Sask.,Attended Melinda School and Melfort High School. Enl. Dundurn N.P.T.C. in 1940. "Special course of instruction" at Lethbridge, Nov. 1940 (probably a Jnr NCO Course), and entered Canadian Active Service Army (CASA) at Saskatoon (14th Hussars (RCAC)) and served as an instructor till joining the "Motorcycle Corps" later in 1941 (possiby till 14th Hussars became renamed 8th Recce Regiment in England).
