Interesting Facts

  • Born at Charlottetown, PEI. Prince St. School and West Kent Boys' School. Enl. Charlottetown January 1940. Previously probably on active duty between 1 Sep 39 and 29 Dec 39 with a detachment of PEI Highlanders. Had already been a member of the Guard of Honour mustered for the May 1939 visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. After the engagement in the North Atlantic, Saguenay limped into port reporting the loss of twenty-one ratings, including Dougan. Unm., Surv. mother, Mrs WE Dougan, Charlottetown and brothers Roy and Blair, both serving Sea Cadets.
