    Pte. Kirkman was born at Leicester, England, May 22, 1888. Son of Mrs. Ann E. Kirkman of Leicester, England. He moved to Canada in 1913 and joined the Quebec branch of the Royal Bank of Canada in April of that year. Enlisted from Edmonton branch on November 26, 1914, in the 31st Battalion. Present at St. Eloi, Sanctuary Wood, the Somme and Courcelette. Killed in action during the battle of Courcelette.

    Pte. Kirkman is recognized on the RBC's digital Roll of Honour.
