Captain Jul 1902. Twice MiD. Ret. Canada Jan 1901,as major. Ret. S.A as 2 i/c 3 CMR after Peace 31 May 1902. Selected by Lord Roberts as first colonial officer to attend Camberley Staff College. 1 Jul 1905 Ass/Dir Ops and and staff duties, Dept Militia and Defence, Ottawa. 1908 Dir. of Mil. Trng. Regimental duty Jan 1911. CO B Bty RCHA Kingston. July 1915 CO B Bty France. March 1916 CO 8 Bde RCFA, Ypres Salient. Evening of 8 April 1917, inspecting guns at Berthonval Farm prior to Vimy bombardment, was struck in abdomen by enemy fire.Died of wounds three days later.
