The plaque celebrating the memory and sacrifice of Tropper Marc Diab who was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan on 8 March 2009 and is installed at the Trooper Marc Diab Memorial Park in Mississauga, Ontario reads;
'Trooper Marc Diab was born on September 23, 1986 in Lebanon and moved to Canada in 2000. Marc was an active youth member in his community and the local church and a former student of St. Joseph Secondary School. His passion to help and serve others led him to join the Canadian Military in 2006. During his summer leave, Marc ran youth camps and trained children in survival techniques and first aid. At the age of 22, Marc was a member of D Squadron, Royal Canadian Dragoons, 3rd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group based in Petawawa. On March 8, 2009, while on duty, Marc was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. Marc leaves a long-lasting legacy of generous service to his community and the Nation with his strong leadership and involvement with youth. Park name approved by Council in March 2010.'
Marc's parents, Jihan and Hani Diab said at the ceremony unveiling the memorial plaque that the park will allow Marc's memory to live on forever.
