NPAM Major. King's County Hussars
Reinterred at Braamfontein, Johannesburg. Borden was the only son of Canadian Minister of Militia, Sir Frederick Borden. At the time of commissioning he was a third-year medical student at McGill University.
Mentioned in Lord Kitchener's despatch 8 Mar 1901 for "gallantry in action and stubborn fighting."
In Canning, Nova Scotia, a bronze bust of Lt. Borden was erected in the centre of the village. And at McGill University a wall memorial was erected to Borden and E. P. O'Reilly RCFA (died of dysentery at De Aar 17 May1900) "as an expression of admiration" by their fellow medical students.
