Faits intéressants


  • Son of Norman Percy Aldred and Lucille Gertrude Aldred (née Prentice), of Port Perry, Ontario, Canada. Brother of Kathryn and brothers Norman and Joel

    Educated at Junior Matric Public School and Port Perry High School between September 1938 and April 1941. Enjoyed hockey, basketball, skiing, track events and the radio.

    Final operation in Hamburg, Germany. 307 aircraft. German night-fighters appeared on the return leg leading to 22 losses (7.2%). This was the first raid on Hamburg for a year and was not well concentrated. The Germans were unable to determine the aiming point from the bombing results. Most of the bombs fell on areas devastated during 1943. Pilot Officer Aldred was killed when his aircraft was shot down by a night-fighter and crashed at Hohenaspe, NNW of Itzehoe, Germany.
