Faits intéressants

  • Son of Robert Kent Loughead and Mary Mildred Crowe of Truro, NS. Prior to enlisting, he was a student at the Agricultural College in Truro. Throughout his military training he was considered level-headed and a keen learner, which his superiors said were the makings of a sound pilot. He was killed as a result of injuries sustained in a flying accident overseas, during an overnight training exercise. According to the accident report, there was no technical failure. Pilot Officer Loughead's vision was obscured due to low clouds and heavy rain, causing him to lose sight of the flare path. When he attempted to fly lower for better visibility, his plane crashed into the treeline. He died early the next morning.
