Son of Wilmot Wardwell Purdy and Myrtle Jessie Purdy, of Truro, NS. On 10th August 1941, Purdy and his crew took off in their 129 Squadron aircraft from Leconfield for a local flying training flight. He was flying as part of the formation of three when he broke away from the formation, rolled onto its back and dived into the ground. The cause of the accident is unknown.
