Born in Winnipeg, the son of Joseph and Faith Goretsky Girman. Educated at Aberdeen School and Isaac Newton School in Winnipeg. Enl. Winnipeg. Trained in Canada and then overseas to RCAF 403 "Wolf" Sqn at Baginton, England (Curtiss Tomahawks) then to Ternhill (Spitfires), the first RCAF squadron formed overseas. Surv.
