Son of Arthur J. and Lillie Bissell, of Brockville, Ontario. Lieut. Lynn Newton Bissell died when his Bristol F2B serial B8942 crashed near Athelstaneford. Flying from RNAS East Fortune his aircraft already armed for operations stalled and crashed soon after take off. Although his grave says he was 21, it was later discovered that he was in fact 19 years of age. This means he was only 17 when he enlisted in 1916.
