Interesting Facts

  • Son of James and Sarah McCullough of Windsor Mills, QC. Enlisted with the 117th Battalion at Richmond in January 1916 and sailed to England from Halifax on the Empress of Britain in August. With the 117th he was promoted to Sergeant, but later reverted to Private with 13 other officers to join the 24th Battalion in France, where he quickly made his way back up the ranks. Reported missing April 9th, 1917 following the Battle of Vimy Ridge and was confirmed to have been killed in action later that day.
