  • Born at Roseneath, Ont. Studied at Victoria University, University of Toronto. Enl. 7 Nov 1938 at Trenton, Ontario. M. Ruth Beaton Brownlee 1939. He was believed to be the first RCAF officer killed in a "flying battle" overseas. A press account stated that during the Battle of Britain a German bomber attacking an aerodrome in Sussex was shot down by a Canadian and that beside the wreckage of the Aircraft a tattered map was found and that that map was prominently displayed afterwards over the fireplace in Edwards's mess as a trophy, since credit for the "kill" was given to the former Cobourg resident. He was survived by his wife at 58 Jackman Avenue, Toronto.
