    Born on his father`s farm near Cartwright, MB. East Mountain PS and Cartwright HS. Farmoing when he enl Winnipeg Oct 41. Trained at Paulson, Saskatoon, Mountainview. Overseas Aug 1942 as Sgt. Air Gunner on Halifax that crashed near Mukor, Yorkshire. Promoted poshumously to Fligfht Sergeant. Surv parents, Mr. Mrs. WRE Askew, Cartwright, MB., Bro FS George W. RCAF reported MIA 25 Jul 43 over Essen.
