Interesting Facts

  • Born at Dodsland, Sask. PS and HS there. Special course in Mechanics at Marengo, Sask. Played several stringed and wind instruments. Played hockey and rode bucking horses at stampedes in Western Canada. Enl. Saskatoon, Oct 1941. Trained at Edmonton, MacLeod, Regina and Dauphin where he died in a plane crash during his final graduation flight after being recommended for Pilot Officer rank.This rank was later granted posthumously together with his wings. Surv. parents, Mr. Mrs.James Stewart Dewar of Hoosier; sisters, Mrs. Mildred Hodges of Red Deer; Julene, Claire and Lois, at home; and brothers Donald and Gordon.
